Here is one of my favorite photos from a trip to Joshua Tree National Park in January of 2007. My wife and I spent the entire day and late into the evening buzzing from one end of the part to the other. In some cases visiting the same place several times. When nighttime came we found ourselves pretty much slap dab in the middle of the park. So we decided to pull over and grab some silhouette shots of a desert sunset.
I sacrificed the stars in the sky by using a 30 second exposure but I felt that the photo would have had to much grain if I adjusted my ISO to 1000 or higher. After looking at the photo for a time I think the star streaks lends some motion to the sky.
I highly recommend visiting Joshua Tree National Park if you get a chance. It has a great deal to offer any level of photographer.
Did I mention that it was January in the desert, burrrr. Anyway, please enjoy.
